With adult-use legislation creating new cannabis consumers in states like Washington, Colorado and Oregon, popular California brands like Auntie Dolores anticipate a similar evolution to begin as their state enters the adult-use chapter of the cannabis marketplace.
While concepts like “potency cap” and “standardized dose” aren’t legally enforced in California, Auntie Dolores understands the responsibility of manufacturers to consider the safety of patients and novice consumers.
As it stands, few California-based manufacturers uphold quality assurance protocol, clear
dosing descriptions, or regulation-compliant packaging – which leaves many patients and
dispensaries in the dark when trying to customize their cannabinoid regimen. As an organization who wishes to participate and expedite the standardization of the cannabis industry, Auntie Dolores has undertaken a complete redesign of their packaging to help both the novice and experienced cannabis patient (and consumer) approach cannabis in a more thoughtful and responsible manner.

Potency Cap at 200mg:
While Auntie Dolores used to carry products in the 500+ milligram range, they’ve decided to implement a self-imposed potency cap to reflect the laws in legal states. While many
manufacturers pursue high-potency products in an attempt to stay relevant to the high-tolerance cannabis patient, Auntie Dolores believes that social responsibility should be a priority: high tolerance patients can always consume multiple doses, but inexperienced patients and novice consumers are at risk for exceeding their threshold of comfort when ingesting THC. This has inspired Auntie Dolores to define a potency cap at 200mg per container.
Standardized Dose at 10mg THC:
While physicians like patients will exceed this figure in pursuit of an effective dose, many beginner patients may discover that a dose less than 10mg will offer them sufficient benefits. In any case, easily titrated products like Auntie Dolores pecans and cheese crackers are essential for the future of the cannabis industry. While large products with excessive levels of THC can make it difficult to identify a manageable and consistent dose, loose products ensure a truly customizable offering.
Always Lab Tested:
While states like Colorado and Washington have mandates for lab-testing cannabis products, California remains moot on the subject (minus some localities like Berkeley establishing regulations around all products sold at Berkeley collectives). In the hopes of establishing a level of expectation among California patients, Auntie Dolores has teamed up with labs like CW Analytical in Oakland to define and implement a strict quality assurance protocol to better protect the patients while simultaneously illuminating the mystery surrounding edible cannabis.
Auntie Dolores lab tests all of the extracts and final products at various stages for mold,
pesticide, herbicide, fungus, and cannabinoid potency. This level of understanding is something the future consumer will expect, and Auntie Dolores hopes to facilitate the discussion to help legislators and the public learn how cannabis can be regulated in an effective and safe manner.
Premium Ingredients:
While the typical grocery-store consumer has grown accustomed to products designed for people with dietary restrictions – like paleo dieters, vegans, and gluten free individuals – few organizations within the cannabis industry have integrated nourishing ingredients into their edibles; Auntie Dolores has set out to revolutionize the edible market by working to evolve every item on their menu – even the brownie bites! As of March 2015, all Auntie Dolores brownies will be vegan and low-glycemic! This means no eggs, no dairy products, and no refined sugar or High-Fructose Corn Syrup. As far as Auntie Dolores is concerned, edibles should offer much more than just cannabinoids!
Auntie Dolores is the proud recipient of United Patients Group’s Seal of Approval for being a Safe, Tested and Reliable organization for patients.
